Balamu Community Outreach Program (BACOP) is a non-profit organization that uses soccer as a development tool to address social, economic, health, and environmental community challenges in Uganda.

Football for Development

Football is a grassroots sport in Uganda, bringing together internally displaced persons and refugees.

BACOP was founded in 2012 by youths who were actively involved in playing football and other sporting activities. They found it necessary to form and register a community-led membership organization to unite refugees and their host communities.

Girls’ up for Football Tournament

This football tournament is aimed at increasing girl’s participation, confidence building, and menstrual hygiene management. This tournament is play once a month among 200 girls aged 10- 15 years within the Mehta camps

The Mehta Camps Primary Schools League is a year-round initiative engaging boys and girls aged 5 to 15 from 12 primary schools. With 1,200 participants, the league takes place weekly, providing not only an opportunity for sports but also a platform to run campaigns on drug and substance abuse prevention as well as mental health awareness.
